  3. How long have you been refereeing?
    I refereed my very first proper game in January 1995

  4. What Level are you and what leagues do you officiate on?
    Level 1, FA Barclaycard Premiership and the Nationwide Football League

  5. Why did you become a Referee?
    I wanted to involved in football at the highest level possible and in order to achieve this I had to stop playing.

  6. Most inspirational person in your refereeing?
    My family and my colleagues within the Hunts RA.

  7. Most memorable moment since refereeing?
    It’s difficult to choose between refereeing the FA Sunday Cup Final at Anfield or my very first Football League Game, both were fantastic.

  8. What is the funniest moment in any of your games?
    I have a couple, once I started the second half of a game without my notebook and the other was running out for start of a second half when both teams were still in the dressing rooms.

  9. What is the worst or frustrating moment in any of your games?
    I get so frustrated when people have a ‘chip’ on their shoulder because someone has succeeded or got a plum appointment, I believe your turn will come if you can loose the ‘chip’.

  10. What ambitions do you have whether refereeing or having given up the whistle...
    In one year?
    To become an established Football League Referee

    In five years?
    To become a Premier League Referee

    In ten years?
    To still be fit enough to referee and have said that I’ve refereed at the new Wembley Stadium.

  11. Before each game you officiate on, what aims do you have?
    Not to worry about the man in the stand, not to give the teams any opportunity to use me as their scapegoat and to do my best.

  12. What most frustrates you on the field?
    My colleagues and me, not being appreciated for our efforts, despite the outcome.

  13. What pleases you most on the field?
    Being appreciated and thanked.

  14. What one change, if any, would you like to see in today’s game?
    I would like to see a period where we have ‘no change’ to allow the game to settle down and get it’s true value back.

  15. Is there any one piece of advice you would give to anyone considering taking up the whistle?
    Always take on board advice, show commitment, and believe in yourself!

  16. Is there any one piece of advice you would give to another referee?
    Be smart, enjoy it, make sure the first caution is good one and ‘boss’ the game.
  17. Hobbies & Interests outside of football?
    I am a busy man, therefore time with my family is what I enjoy.
