TRAINING
Huntingdonshire Referee's train every Tuesday 7.15pm at The Running Track at Peterborough
Why should I attend training?
The training that takes place on Thursday's has two real purposes, Serious & Social:
SERIOUS - As you progress up the referee ladder the demands of the game change and so should our fitness. We cover a lot of distance when refereeing therefore we need to improve our stamina, you don't want to receive the comment "Your fitness deteriorated in the last 10 minutes" from the assessor. Training is taken by a County FA Fitness Team Leaders, we vary our training sessions from week to week to cover different types of running and exercises, Sprint Training, Speed & Agility Training, Stamina Workouts and activities to improve Fitness Test performance.
SOCIAL - You will meet a number of your Huntingdonshire colleagues at these training sessions. During the training session and afterwards in the bar we discuss different peoples games, assessments and any problems colleagues may have. Senior colleagues give advice to others on different aspects of people's games. Everybody is approachable, and we all learn things from each other even if it is only a great joke or who's the best footballer. Yes, we referee's can play too, often we finish off our training with a "knock-about".
*You don't have to fall into both of these categories therefore come along and train with the Hunts refs.
REMEMBER - Don't referee to be fit, be fit to referee!

This PowerPoint Presentation will go part way to explaining the Role of the County FA Training Co-ordinator, explain the role of the Fitness Team Leaders and raise awareness of the need to train. The rpesentation was first given at a Hunts RA General meeting by Kevin in May of 2002 but is still relevant today. Feel free to make contact with your local Fitness Team Leaders (Paul Barnes, Brian O'Sullivan, Ian Wilson & Mike Shaw) to find out where the next training session is near you!
