    I loved playing football until I was 48 and wanted to put something back in the game

    Andy Barks
  7. Most memorable moment since refereeing?
    Cup game at Spalding, pouring with rain and Kevin Wright played 7 minutes of added time and Spalding drew level in the last minute to take us into extra time and then the heavens really opened but we finished the game
  8. What is the funniest moment in any of your games?
    Andy Barks on his cup game at St. Neots said, "don't forget to take everything with you as if you're going to ref the game!" We got to the middle, introduced the capatins then he turned and said to me, "have you got a coin?" I said, "no". He turned to John and asked if he had a coin… he also says "no". He turned to straight to the captains and said, "these silly bas***rds haven't brought a coin… which hand is my whistle in?" Scores are level at full time. Andy goes to the middle and asks if either of us has a coin… we both said, "no!" He then turns to the captains and asks, "which hand's my whistle in?" !!!

    Players whinging
  10. What ambitions do you have whether refereeing or having given up the whistle…
    In one year?
    Being able to keep fit enough to referee

    In five years?
    Ditto or help in another aspect of football

    Who knows?

  11. Before each game you officiate on, what aims do you have?
    To smile, have a smooth flowing game, with no bookings
  12. What most frustrates you on the field?
    Players whinging and not allowing the game to flow. Silly bookings, i.e. Kicking the ball away and dissent.
  13. What pleases you most on the field?
    When players and officials come off at the end of a game smiling
  14. What one change, if any, would you like to see in today’s game?
    No offside until the penalty area and any offside is then deemed as interfering.
  15. Is there any one piece of advice you would give to anyone considering taking up the whistle?
    Smile and enjoy
  16. Is there any one piece of advice you would give to another referee?
    If you have got a problem, pick up the phone and speak to any experienced referee in the handbook.

    Family, DIY, travel and food.

    Luther Blissett. Strong, direct and honest.
